ESL Grammar: How to Use Adjectives

Adjectives usually come before the nouns they describe.

Examples:

• She has a beautiful dress. (beautiful describes the dress)
• They live in a small town. (small describes the town)

Adjectives can also follow a linking verb, providing more information about the subject.

Examples:

• The sky is blue. (blue describes the sky)
• The soup tastes delicious. (delicious describes the soup)
