ESL Grammar: What is the “As Adjective As” Structure?

The “as adjective as” structure is used to compare two things that are equal in a specific quality. It helps you show that one noun is not better or worse, but equal in some way to another noun.

Structure:

• Noun 1 + Verb + as + Adjective + as + Noun 2

Examples:

• Tall → as tall as: The giraffe is as tall as the elephant.
• Smart → as smart as: Tom is as smart as Jerry.
• Fast → as fast as: The bicycle is as fast as the scooter.
